“The Orphanage by the Lake” by Daniel G. Miller is a psychological thriller where a struggling private investigator, Hazel Cho is hired to find a missing girl from a mysterious children’s home, uncovering dark secrets and sinister figures as she delves deeper into the case.
All I’m going to say about this one is that I am rarely caught off guard by these thrillers. I’ve read so many I can pretty much figure it out but, this one had a twist I didn’t see coming! I was reading this in bed one night and there is one part in particular that had me sit straight up with a loud gasp. I woke my husband from a dead sleep in a panic.
